Anxiety Therapy for Overthinkers and High Achievers
Turn analysis paralysis into clarity, confidence, and calm.
Is this you?
You’re seen as a high performer, but there’s another part only you see — overthinking, endless worry, and a brain that’s exhausted because it never gets a break.
You struggle to be present and ‘in the moment’, because you’re always thinking about what could go wrong, no matter how unlikely it might actually be.
You dread waking up in the middle of the night, knowing that once your brain gets going, you’re probably not going to be able to get back to sleep.
You can’t stop thinking about what you said — or didn’t say — in that last conversation, and it’s stuck on ‘repeat’ in your head.
Sound familiar? Well, here’s good news: your brain isn’t broken.
The challenge is real, though — we’re living in a noisy, fast-paced world that can be pretty overwhelming. And, you may well be someone who’s even more attuned to that noise than the average human.
The good news? Change is possible. I help people like you learn how to filter the noise of the world, quiet their inner storms, and create a calmer, happier life.
How therapy helps
Therapy is, to oversimplify it, about transforming the patterns that keep your mind spinning into ones that serve you better. How does that look in practice?
Well, it varies from client to client — I’ve come to see therapy as a mix of science and art. The science is the techniques and tools, developed from research and years of practice. The art is in working to understand my clients and tuning my approach to fit them and who they are.
Through our work together, past clients have learned to:
Transform their overthinking and worry from endless rumination to productive, confident action.
Create boundaries and filters that protect them from the world without becoming isolating.
Calm and relax their bodies to decrease tension and improve sleep.
Spend less time worrying and more time living.

"I am a far more confident person that has learned to accept myself more than I had ever hoped to do so when we started working together."

The Nuts & Bolts (when, where, how, etc.)
I see clients virtually (via phone or video) throughout California. (In-person 'walk & talk' sessions are also available if you're in the Sacramento area.)
Generally, we have weekly or bi-weekly appointments, but asynchronous support via secure messaging can be added on as well.
While I don’t take insurance directly, I can provide a superbill for out of network reimbursement.
HSA funds can also generally be used to pay for sessions.
FAQ
-
If you find yourself feeling physical tension & anxiety, are always overthinking, ruminating, or lost in analysis paralysis, and don’t know how to quiet it down, you're in the right place.
-
It depends (I hate the vagueness of that answer, but it's the honest one.) For some clients, it's just a few months while they tackle a specific challenge. For others it's longer-term, because they value the ongoing support of having a trusted advisor help them navigate through life.
-
The research done on this topic indicates they’re just as effective. For phone sessions, some people actually find it more comfortable to open up and dig into challenging topics than they would in a face-to-face situation.
-
At the risk of sounding vague, the reality is that it can vary quite a bit, depending on a number of factors (frequency of sessions, asynchronous support, out-of-network coverage). Pricing is always something we discuss in a consultation call so you have a clear idea of what to expect before you commit.
-
Under California law, everything in our sessions (including the fact that we're having them) is confidential unless there are safety concerns or you give me permission to share information about our sessions with someone else.

“Old limiting patterns that have plagued me my entire life have finally begun to dissolve. At first, I wondered if the cost would be worth it. Looking back, I find it hard to overstate the value of those sessions."

Meet Steve
As someone who grew up in an environment with substance abuse, divorce, and frequent moves, anxiety was an all-too-common presence in my life from an early age. Eventually, the ongoing worry, overthinking, and stress led to depression. I felt like I was the problem, but my journey through therapy showed me otherwise and inspired me to help others heal and grow.
In over 20 years working as a counselor, psychotherapist, and coach, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of people learn to calm their bodies and transform their anxious brains into the powerful tools they’re capable of being. The work my clients do both inspires me and challenges me to continue my own growth journey.
Outside of work, you can probably find me reading, playing games with my family, helping the dogs at our local shelters, making music, or floating on my paddleboard at a nearby lake.

If you’ve found yourself nodding as you read through this page and are curious to explore further, let’s connect. You can send me an email with any questions you have or schedule a consultation. No expectation or obligation, just a chance to connect and explore what makes sense for you.
Whatever path your journey takes, I hope it's one that connects you to a life that feels more confident, empowered, and true to you. Keep moving forward.
